2007 Bing Receipts Strong
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that most charities conducting
bingo games in Ohio operated on a profit margin of approximately ten
percent in 2007, but some charities were able to declare receipts
in excess of three million dollars.

Charges from Gambling in Liquor
Establishment
A liquor permit holder was charged last month after investigators
seized nearly $3,000.00 in cash and nine electronic devices believed
to be gambling machines.

Bad News for the Eastern Shawnee
Last month, the United States Department of the Interior declined
to accept land into trust for off-reservation gaming requested by
the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe in New York.
- Governor Proposes Keno
In his State of the State Address last month, Governor Ted Strickland
proposed expanding the regulatory authority of the Ohio Lottery Commission
to oversee video keno machines that would be available in bars and restaurants.
- Dan Sues Springfield Charity
The State of Ohio has filed suit against the Springfield Central Ohio
Association for Children's Higher Education for allegedly misusing charitable
bingo proceeds.

Cleveland Business Seeks
Casino in Clinton County
The Dayton Daily News reported that Rick Lertzman and Brad Pressman,
two "Cleveland-area businessmen" are attempting to place
a Constitutional amendment on the 2008 statewide ballot authorizing
gaming.

"Skill-Games"
Outlawed
Governor Ted Strickland has signed into law an act of the General
Assembly that deems any skill device that pays winners in cash or
in prizes valued in excess of $10.00 an illegal slot machine.

Speaker Proposes Ban on Skill
Game Cash Payouts
The Cleveland Plain Dealer recently reported that Ohio House of Representatives
Speaker John Husted intends to ask his chamber to place a total ban
on cash payouts from so-called games of skill.

Skill Game Purveyors Win Injuctions
Early this month Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Michael Holbrook
issued an order that prohibited the Attorney General from enforcing
a ban on the "Nudgemaster" game.

Tracks Install Skill Games
Several racetracks in Ohio have opted to install controversial "skill
games" at their facilities this month.
