Meet State Budget Woes Head-On

Already, the crisis has prompted Ohio House Speaker Larry
Householder to revisit plans to expand gambling as the solution.
That is so clearly not the answer to Ohio's funding crisis that
the idea has become insulting. If legislative leaders do not begin
acting responsibly, they will rightly stand accused of intentionally
harming the citizens they represent.

$70 million over two years). Many lawmakers dream of video lottery
terminals, or slot machines, at race tracks (Revenue projections
range in the area of $300 million a year.) Both would extend the
miserable practice of the state preying on many of its most vulnerable
citizens.
